Investing in our future: Graduation Costs & Community Value

Dear Adelanto High School Families,

As we approach State Testing, we want to be transparent about why these tests matter, not just to the school, but to you as a homeowner and parent. The California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) is an annual assessment in English, Math and Science for Adelanto High 11th grade students April 9th through 22nd, 2026.

1. The Impact on Your Community: While state tests don't impact a student's GPA, they are the primary metric used to rate our school district. Public school ratings are directly tied to local property values and the prestige of our neighborhood. When our students shine, our entire community benefits.

2. The Impact on Your Wallet (Graduation Support): We know that Junior and Senior years are expensive. Between yearbooks, prom, and graduation packages, the costs add up. Because these tests mean so much to our community, we want to help you cover those costs.

We have authorized substantial financial incentives for students who get a Meet or Exceed on the state testing:

  • 11th Graders (Class of 2026): Can earn up to $500.
    • Think of this as your "Senior Fund." This creates a budget to pay for their senior package, including: cap & gown, prom tickets, or Grad Night.
  • English Learner Students: Can earn exclusive field trips for meeting standards.

3. Attendance and participation incentive:

In addition, AHS students who attend and complete their assigned Math, English, and Science tests on their scheduled testing dates during the testing window of April 9 through April 22 will earn a free lunch from one of our school vendors on April 23, 2026.

We are investing in students because they represent the future of this community. We ask for your support in helping your student:

  • Get a good night’s sleep
  • Arrive on time on testing days
  • Understand the importance of giving a genuine effort

When students show up prepared and focused, everyone benefits.

Thank you for partnering with us to support our students, strengthen our school, and invest in our shared community.

Sincerely,
Dr. Purcell
